Our Festivals
Film Otsego proudly hosts and sponsors premier annual film festivals, celebrating regional independent filmmakers and global genre cinema.
Made By NY Women Film Festival
Spearheaded by Film Otsego, this landmark annual event celebrates female creators and narrative architects during Women's History Month. Held at the state-of-the-art Foothills Performing Arts and Civic Center in Oneonta, the festival highlights short films, features, and documentaries written, directed, or produced by women who are native New Yorkers, current residents, or filmed their projects within New York State.
Featuring dedicated genre blocks (including highly popular comedy and drama nights), filmmaker meet-and-greets, and curated Q&A sessions, the festival serves as a powerful networking and community hub for next-generation voices in cinema.

Shocktoberfest
Harnessing Otsego County's natural, organic emergence as Upstate New York's premiere destination for suspense and horror, Shocktoberfest is our annual autumn celebration of genre filmmaking. Hosted at the Foothills PAC in Oneonta, the festival showcases the absolute finest in regional and international horror, thriller, and sci-fi cinema.
Featuring local premieres—including landmark commission horror hits like Zombie Apache and Popeye the Slayer Man—alongside interactive panels and special tribute blocks, Shocktoberfest turns Oneonta into a dark-genre haven every October.
Cannabis Culture Film Fest
The Cannabis Culture Film Fest (CCFF) is a national traveling festival that found a vibrant home in Otsego County. Hosted by renowned comedian Rob Cantrell, the two-day event beautifully blends independent cinema with community celebration.
Friday night kicks off with a screening of The Big Lebowski, complete with trivia, costume contests, and an exclusive 21+ Hippy Hour featuring a tasting menu by Sum Noodle Ramen Bar. Saturday is packed with industry events, including a movie script pitch contest, a 'Weed & Creativity' panel, and a stacked lineup of documentary blocks, shorts, and a feature film presentation. With free general admission, it is a premier celebration of cannabis culture in upstate New York.
