Leatherstocking Region of Upstate New York
Check out this great video!
The 2021 Film COOP Women in Film Peak Leaf Weekend Site Tour and Networking Event will take place from Thursday, Sept. 30, to Sunday, Oct. 3, in Cooperstown, Oneonta, Utica, Springfield Center and several other locations in Otsego County and New York's Mohawk Valley. We have booked 13 rooms at some of the best four/five-star hotels in Cooperstown for the weekend and want to fill them with New York City or other industry women – directors, producers, location scouts – who are actively working to make a movie in the next couple of years. We want to show you that Otsego County and the city of Utica are camera ready. In addition to two qualified production facilities, we have dozens of available locations, two lakes, the headwaters of the Susquehanna River, the foothills of the Catskill Mountains, two amazing colleges in the "city of the hills," Oneonta, dozens of quaint hamlets and villages, and a major Erie Canal city, Utica, to show you. And we will be doing it during one of the prettiest weeks of the year, when the leaves are in peak colors. We will introduce our guests to local caterers and location rental managers, city and county officials and area industry professionals to help the industry see that Otsego County and the Mohawk Valley are great places to book production shoots for films, television programs, commercials and industrials.
The cost for this weekend all-inclusive with meals, three nights stay, full transportation check in to check out and recreational activities (museum passes, outdoor activities, weather permitting) would be about $1,500, but Film COOP is offering this package to 13 film professionals for just $345.
In addition, we are offering two full scholarships on the tour, one to guarantee a diversity-inclusion candidate and the other to a filmmaker willing to screen a recent film she wrote, directed or produced.
Film COOP, legally known as The Cooperstown, Oneonta, Otsego County Film Partnership, Inc., is the pioneer film commission office in the Mohawk Valley EDD. We are the official film commission of Otsego County, New York, the village of Cooperstown and the city and town of Oneonta. We also have a partnership with The Stanley Theater in Utica, a qualified production facility.
Of course, this is all COVID willing, and we will take all CDC and State DOH recommended precautions for the weekend.
If you have any questions, I would be happy to answer them. We are looking forward to hosting you all during the beauty of Upstate fall.
Sincerely,
Greg Klein
Board President
